Recent research has shown that there is a very high level of phobic incidents and crimes in the South West peninsula, and that only a very tiny proportion are being reported. The same research has also thrown up unexpected and unexplained differences in phobic crime patterns in urban compared with rural areas of the peninsula, and raised pressing questions about the nature, severity and locality of such crimes, and the risk factors for LGB/T members of the public.
