Avon & Bristol Law Centre

The Law Centre provides a free legal advice and advocacy service for unwaged and low paid people and for people experiencing unlawful discrimination. They can help people who live or work in Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. In cases of discrimination they can also advise people living or working in Somerset. All advice is free and confidential.

Avon & Somerset Constabulary

Covers the cities of Bristol, Bath and Wells as well as the more rural areas of Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Barton Hill Settlement

Barton Hill Settlement provides services, facilities, and community development to Barton Hill and surrounding areas of East Bristol.

Bath and North East Somerset – Racial Equality Council

Our work is focused on Bath and North East Somerset and deals with four broad topics: – Casework (on racial discrimination and racial harassment). – Community Development work. – Sports Equality and Diversity Work. – Policy work (primarily with publicity funded organisations).

The Bright Project

The purpose of Bright Project is to work with Black and other Minority Ethnic (BME) voluntary sector organisations in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire to help to improve access to legal and benefits advice for their communities.

Bristol ChangeUP Consortium

The Bristol ChangeUp Consortium is a partnership of local infrastructure organisations who have come together to improve the delivery of support services to Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations. The partnership was set up in 2004 with the aim of providing an accountable, representative and well resourced infrastructure for Bristol’s voluntary, community and social enterprise sectors.

The Bristol Partnership

The Bristol Partnership is the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) for Bristol. It is a group of agencies or organisations from business, the public sector, community, voluntary sector, higher and further education, who are working together to make Bristol a successful city in Europe.

BSWN (Black South West Network)

BSWN is a provider of support services operating in the South West working with 350 civil society organisations in rural and urban communities. The primary focus of the organisation is to empower BME and marginal community organisations as leaders of social action . The vision and mission of the network is to promote and advocate on behalf of BME, other marginal, Voluntary, Civil Society and Community organisation.

CEED(Centre for Employment and Enterprise Development)

Is a nationally recognised community enterprise providing training, career guidance, counselling and a full range of business support services. From our base in the heart of Bristol, the charity promotes development in the areas of Information Technology and Media Services, Training and Employment Services, Enterprise Development and Corporate Services. CEED’s mission is to ‘improve the economic well being of those currently disadvantaged in the labour market and in business, in particular those from marginalised groups’.

Department for Communities and Local Government

The Deprtament for Communities and Local Government sets policy on supporting local government; communities and neighbourhoods; regeneration; housing; planning, building and the environment; and fire. The Department is ending the era of top-down government by giving new powers to councils, communities, neighbours and individuals.

C3 Partnership

The C3 approach strengthens the third sector by encouraging and enabling third sector organisations to continually improve their performance. Thus it also ensures that those who work or volunteer for buy from, invest in and support and advise the sector deliver and get better value for their contributions to its overall achievements. The Care Forum

The Care Forum is an independent voluntary organisation. They work across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. They also work across the South West Region. Its aim is to support communication, consultation and networking with the voluntary and community sector (VCS), to promote partnership working with the VCS, to empower adults and young people to voice issues about local social and community care services and also to provide information and advice about voluntary and statutory sector health and well-being services.

Dorset REC (Dorset RaceEquality Council)

Dorset Race Equality Council is an independent charity. Its aim is to reduce racial discrimination, promote shared values of peace, responsibility and racial harmony. Also to reduce conflict and increase confidence and self worth amongst the diverse communities in Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. Moreover to give support to the victims of racial discrimination and take measures to ensure perpetrators are dealt with accordingly.

Easton and Lawrence Hill– Neighbourhood Management

Working with residents and organisations to deliver neighbourhood management in the wards of Easton and Lawrence Hill. This means finding out what resident’s issues are and working with other organisations to solve them.

FATA HE –BME Development

FATA HE is a West African word which means ‘Inclusion’ and was established in 2001 to redress social and economic inequalities relating to Black and Minority Ethnic (B&ME) individuals, families and groups within the city of Plymouth. Since becoming incorporated as a Limited Company (Social Enterprise) in 2003, Fata He has become an umbrella organisation for other B&ME individuals and groups, and works closely with other local, sub-regional and regional organisations.

Jobcentre Plus – Working Community Team

Jobcentre Plus is a government agency supporting people of working age from welfare into work, and helping employers to fill their vacancies.

Linking Communities (A Black and Visible Minority Ethnic Network for Gloucestershire)

Linking Communities is a BME Network set up to support the development of the BME Voluntary Sector in Gloucestershire. Its mission is to build a sustainable, vibrant and cohesive BME community in Gloucestershire. Its aims is to develop a diverse BME voluntary sector that is culturally sensitive, responsive and effective enough to arrest the cycle of deprivation caused by the BME communities’ exclusion from vital resources and racism.

Malcolm X Centre

The Malcolm X Community Centre provides social, recreational, educational and entertainment facilities to the residents of St Pauls and neighbouring areas.

Operation Black Vote

Operation Black Vote exits to ensure greater racial justice and equality throughout the UK.

Quartet Community Foundation

As one of the oldest and most successful community foundations in the UK, we have the expertise and local knowledge to help donors support the local causes and charities they care about and make an impact through their giving. We identify issues of importance to our donors and award grants on their behalf to community charities and voluntary groups making a real difference to people’s lives across the West of England.

SARI (Support Against Racist Incidents)

SARI is a company with a charitable status and operates on a non-profit making basis. Its mission is to work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of different racial groups. Also to advance the education of the public in the causes and effects of racism, racial discrimination and hostility on grounds of race, and to promote for the public benefit, the relief and treatment on any physical or mental or emotional distress suffered by any person as a result of that person or a member of his or her family having suffered from racial discrimination.
