BDA Annual Report 2006-07
The latest annual report from the Black Development Agency

As Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Black Development Agency I present our Annual Report 2006-2007. I am pleased to say that the Agency has achieved much over the past year. Relationships and partnerships have been further strengthened. This facilitated and improved the way in which Members views were collectively raised over the year.

BDA Annual Report 05-06
2005-06 has been a very challenging, uncertain and tentative time for the sector as a whole. Reviews of services, introduction of new initiatives and changes in policy have taken its toll. The BME voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSES) along with BDA have been stretched to capacity in our attempts to keep up with the pace. We had to move very quickly to adapt to a fast changing environment.

Contakt Magazine

Contakt Magazine

BDA's Quarterly Magazine Section

Contakt is about our communities and the issues that impact on our lives. It is intended to be interactive reporting of the news, fostering debate, sharing and learning about key policies and practices. It’s about equipping us to make change on all the issues across all the equality strands.

In this issue, we are giving significant space to the challenges presented to Bristol by the Rev. Jesse Jackson during his Economics of Colour Tour. How should we understand racial justice? What should Bristol do to properly deal with its past? And what role do women play? Our equality strand focus is on Gender. We look at the relationship between spirituality and gender and review two important pieces of work looking at the interaction between gender, race and education.
